Master choreographer Ronald K. Brown, who wowed Mondavi Center audiences with his Billie Holiday tribute Blueprint of a Lady in October 2005, is back with another dazzling multimedia tribute to a great African-American artist: One Shot, a work inspired by the life and art of photographer Charles “Teenie” Harris. With his company, Brown has achieved a seamless fusion of traditional African dance with contemporary choreography and spoken word to produce work that is both a profound reflection of African-American history and universal in theme and resonance.
